Hello & Welcome
My name is Bob and I have just about the best job in the world.
First, I get to live in this most magnificent corner of New England and I get to share it with others who appreciate the beauty of the Cape Cod National Seashore. I hope my love of the Cape Cod area, and of the Even’tide (short for Evening Tide), is contagious and some of my enthusiasm will rub off on you.
One of the more satisfying aspects of my job is when first-time visitors become repeat customers, repeat customers turn into regular customers and all the while, everyone is becoming friends. Actually, meeting nice people from all over the world is what makes my daily life interesting and fun. My wife Donna and I truly appreciate all the wonderful people we’ve met over the past twenty-three years and look forward to seeing everyone return year after year.
The Even’tide isn’t your ordinary Cape Cod hotel and cottage complex. We are family operated and family built (all the buildings including the indoor pool, and much of the furniture was hand made). The fine workmanship is a testimonial to the hard work and skill of the late owner, Richard Filliman. He was so concerned about noise that he built two separate insulated walls between the rooms to ensure his guest’s comfort.
The Even’tide also has a separate building that consists of 16 rooms with only one queen or king bed. This ensures that, even in the height of the summer season, couples can enjoy a quiet stay away from families with active children.
I have traveled a bit and have stayed in many hotels. I know that the biggest mistake that someone can make, if he or she is looking for accommodations on Cape Cod, is to figure that all hotels are basically the same. They are not. Here, being so close to sea-level, if a motel room is built on a concrete slab, then the room can’t help but smell musty. Visitors who have stayed in such a hotel may think that all rooms by the sea must smell like that. They do not. The rooms at the Even’tide all have basements under them which provide adequate ventilation.
Another benefit of The Even’tide is our new manager Kelly who also inspects our rooms. She is one stickler for detail. No one will ever be disappointed with our cleanliness. I’m certain of that point.
Our 60 foot long indoor pool has a water temperature somewhere between 82 and 86 degrees and is the largest indoor motel pool on Cape Cod. It’s the perfect spot to relax after a long day in the sun or on the occasional rainy day. The outdoor sundeck overlooks the bamboo and beautiful Mimosa tree.
In a continuing effort to upgrade and improve our facility, we’ve recently completed the following renovations:
- wireless internet access now available in all rooms and cottages
- new bedding in all rooms
- going green with 198 solar panels
- new sleep sofas in our one bedroom suites
- redesigned sitting rooms in one bedroom suites with an additional flat screen TV
- new pool liner and filtration system
- all cottages now have air conditioning
- pool table and work out equipment: multi station weight machine, pec machine, and stationary bike available for those over 18
Whether you plan on staying at the Even’tide for a day, a week, or even longer, I’m sure you’ll find everything you need to make your vacation enjoyable and memorable for years to come.
